View Full Version : New Install
June 29th, 2010, 09:03 AM
I've installed PhotoPost and adjusted formatting/layout but there are a couple of things I need help on.
#1 How do I change the order of sections on the index page?
I can't locate how to do this anywhere...
#2 Concerning setting limits - How can I set member disk space from "Unlimited" to something else? How can I change maximum file size from "No file size limit" to something else?

You cant change order of things there is no option to do that. You only see stuff like that in a CMS
In admin edit usergroups you set diskspace and filesize limits per group based in KB

OK... but how do these guys do this? They show recent photos and then categories then random images.

Thats not reorganizing things.
In layout options in admin you can set whether the recent photos appear at top or bottom.
In sidebar settings in admin you can turn the sidebar on or off

One last item...
On the index page I would like to delete the [ Member Galleries ] link under each thumbnail.
How can I do that?
June 29th, 2010, 11:50 AM
you would need to alter your feature template and remove the $pcatname variable.

Any idea why thumb borders display differently in Internet Explorer??? It appears the bottom border is 3px and the sides and top are 1px.

I would not know without seeing your site.

Your install looks the same to me in all 5 of the most popular browsers.

You're absolutely right!!!
I was using an older version of IE(7)
In PhotoPost Options - when I select to use Enable next and previous photo previews - when it moves to the next thumb it does not remove one of the thumbs and since more thumbs are showing it changes the width of the frame.
My next and previous does not appear to be working properly...
Would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction?
Thanks for all your help - I really do appreciate it!

I figured it out!
June 29th, 2010, 05:45 PM
It appears I'm pretty good to go with my istall and everything seems to be running smoothly. One item that is occurring when I upload a photo is brief on-screen message which is
file_exists() [function.file-exist]: open_basedir resrtiction in effect. File(/usr/bin/jpegtran) is not within the allowed path(s): (/home.crowner6;/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php:/tmp) in /home.crowner6/public_html/image-inc.php on line 753
The message goes away and the upload works fine. I'm concerned that members will be confused by this and I would sure like to not have it show.

Under admin global options clear the line for jpegtran as you can not use it since open_basedir is set on the server. That will clear your error.

On this PhotoPost site they use an RSS feed in their layout.
A community photo gallery - Trackpads Gallery (http://www.trackpads.com/gallery/)
Is this tough to do???
June 30th, 2010, 02:30 PM
Thats a default vb4 photopost install
If your in a category you see the rss link in the address bar of the browser
June 30th, 2010, 02:48 PM
Is PhotoPost capable of producing an RSS feed???
June 30th, 2010, 04:31 PM
yes the rss feed link is in the address bar like most rss feed links.
June 30th, 2010, 04:51 PM
Sometimes I completely overlook the obvious!
I'm just glad the RSS feed wasn't a rattlesnake or I would be dead! :)
Thanks - Again!

Where would I go if I wanted to alter the registration email new members receive?
July 2nd, 2010, 07:35 AM
That would be in your installs directory under a subdirectory called languages and the file is english.php the string is in there.
July 2nd, 2010, 09:07 AM
Hey this may seem a little odd but I would like to change the background color of the keyword search box - where would I go to do that???
July 2nd, 2010, 02:58 PM
well yeah its off topic a little I dont know where your talking but most likely you would actually have to edit the css stylesheet and find the appropriate style class to change its color. depending on your site its going to be in your photopost blockquote class or the vb bginput class in vb style.

Great - Thanks!
Hey - How do I add a bit of space between the photo and the title of the photo at the bottom of the photo on showphoto.php? The title looks like it's almost touching the photo - it just looks too tight and I would like to increase the space a bit.
July 3rd, 2010, 02:48 PM
Maybe in the showphoto template here add a break tag.
if ( $Globals['disptitle'] == "yes" )
<b><br />$title</b><br />

Is there any way to have a wysiwyg editor in the description area?
July 3rd, 2010, 08:53 PM
In Photopost pro no sorry there is not a wysiwyg editor there.
July 3rd, 2010, 09:09 PM
BTW - You work WAY too much! :)
July 4th, 2010, 11:32 AM
Yes that I do ;)
July 6th, 2010, 02:36 PM
Hey Chuck I need to change the first part of my site title <title>Blah blah blah - blah blah blah</title>
Where the heck do I do that?
July 6th, 2010, 02:43 PM
I got it!
Sorry for interrupting you!!
July 6th, 2010, 03:04 PM
Yeah under Admin => Global Options is where you can set a site name and title etc.
July 9th, 2010, 10:27 AM
I would like to be notified when a new member registers. It's currently not doing it.
July 9th, 2010, 08:29 PM
Thats something you would have to add if we are talking a standalone
if your integrated with a forum then you need to investigate your forum registration options.
July 9th, 2010, 08:38 PM
"Thats something you would have to add if we are talking a standalone"
Yes, it is a standalone - so... how would I add it?
July 9th, 2010, 10:22 PM
seems like a nice discussion for the MOD CORNER. From a support perspective I can only respond based on the operation of the released code.
