View Full Version : How do you setup and run your contests?

I would like to know how you setup and run your photo contests. Category setup, moving of images atc..?

What do you do after the contest, move photos delete categories or nothing etc ...

It would be nice to have a link to your gallery to see how you set things up.

I found this old thread in this forum about adding a badge to users profile..

It would be cool to see in a badge or a text under users avatar saying..

Could use polls in the forum threads as a way until something is created within a gallery.
- image option 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 with links to the photos + please vote

I was refernig to the use of PhotoPost Category Editor/Rating type


Rating type?*
Normally users can rate an image on a scale, the Contest setting allows users to 'vote' on image by casting their vote and having those votes added to a total number.


It has a primative contest option, I know many use it, but I wonder how?

One way could be to make a single contest category who has all your contests. Then move the wining images from there to other categories.

Users are exited about contests in my gallery, but I ofcourse want do do things right with out much experiment.

I usually set a content up and announce it and then being in and end it. Once the contest is up I usually revert the category back to normal ratings.

By using an additional category for "Photo Contest", this is easily done just by selecting Photo contest on the admin panel and letting the members vote.

My question is more about how you use the contest option.

I see on your page you have another categorie named "Monthly Photo Contest Winners" do you manualy move the winning photo there after the contest is held?

I have had a few conntests at my site for the photo of the year I make a new contest category for each contest and keep all images there.

Please you all comment on how you run things..
