View Full Version : Smilies in PhotoPost vs VBulletin

How do I get the smilies to be the same in both PP and VB?
I found where to add new smilies in VB and create categories, but can't seem to find how to have them show up in a Photopost smilie menu like what shows to the right here.
I would like those who post comments to pictures to have the same smilies as I do in the forums. I can type in :1up: which gives a 1 thumbs up, which I happen to know the code to, but others won't know the code to the 20 smilies I added.

do you have an example? The smilie box should list all available smilies that you can use in the vb editor.

Here is a link that I announced the new smilies, so you can see the window in VBulletin, but those options for smilies don't show up when users post comments on pictures.
New Animated Smilies - BytePhoto.com (http://www.bytephoto.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=7109)
In Photopost, I only see the quick reply
Back to birds - BytePhoto Galleries (http://www.bytephoto.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=101701&title=back-to-birds&cat=959)

I just checked and the only way I see the smilies to be chosen in the photopost area, is if I click on an already submitted comment and click edit.

well what do you mean by photopost area exactly?
If your using the WYSIWYG editor the more link to make that work you probally need to edit the vbulletin_textedit.js file in the clientscript directory in vb and correct the relative url to misc.php smilie open to be a full url to that file.

lol, will take me a bit to understand what you mean since I'm not as techie as you.
Will get back with you if I have questions later tonight :)
I'll search out vbulletin_textedit.js file and misc.php
Steve can't help me lately so on my own learning :)

how would I know what url to change?

It is the misc.php do smilie link in vbulletin_textedit.js file tell Steve that. There is only one link like that in that file.

I'm not supposed to be bothering Steve now :) he is working on his big piano convention in April. He's behind schedule because of the setup of Bytephoto :)
I'm techie, but just not as techie as both of you.
I figured out how to change the offline online icon in photopost msgs, but now have to figure out how to make it appear in VB.
you can see it in the Back to Birds link :)
going to check now to see if I can locate the link for the smilies

guessing I can't access those from the front end admin area?
February 1st, 2010, 01:42 PM
That file would be located under the clientscript directory of your vbulletin install via ftp.

ok thanks. I know where that is, but don't want to attempt to edit the file since I'm not sure what I'm doing yet. Guess I have to be patient and wait for Steve.
