View Full Version : Dynamic metatag description and keyword
December 9th, 2009, 10:27 AM
Hi forum, again sorry for my bad english :-(
I think (like many people) that a dynamic metatag description are very very important for my sites, the results on search engines without this parameter are negative for invite people to click.
I read this topic (http://www.photopost.com/forum/photopost-pro-how-do-i/115518-custom-meta-tags.html) but I failed to insert dynamic metatag in showpoto pages.
How to make this, for dummies please? :-)
Chuck, You not think that this is important? this is a planned modification? When? :-)
tnx in advance

I am not the developer for the gallery. Photopost 7 has SEO routines that are new and a meta desc and keywords I am not too sure that it changes per photo. I know the title has been optimized.
Feel free to place any suggestions you wish in the suggestions forum for the product for the developer to look at when he codes new features in.

7 is pretty stable and featured locked so I doubt your gonna see too much more added to that. Suggestions though can always go in the suggestions forum

tnx Chuck for nfo :-)
return to the problem for one moment...
I tried to modify the pp-inc.php:
$nocachetag = "<!-- no cache headers -->
<meta http-equiv=\"pragma\" content=\"no-cache\" />
<meta http-equiv=\"expires\" content=\"Tue, 21 Nov 2010 05:00:00 GMT\" />
<meta http-equiv=\"cache-control\" content=\"no-cache, must-revalidate\" />
<meta http-equiv=\"description\" content=\"$description\" />
<!-- end no cache headers -->\n";
but in web page the result is a blank content:
<meta http-equiv="description" content="" />
Is a possible way or I'm wasting my time?

well I would suppose you would need to modify the printheader function to actually pass the description. I know that the printheader function passes the title in the $titlereplace variable. so you could theoretically have to do something similar to pass a description. I am sorry but I dont really participate in the mod forums only support of the normal product which we know does not do as you want currently.

Tnx Chuck, are always very generous :-)
I understood, titlereplace work, but the development in me is a fake...
I surrender, wait PP 7....
