View Full Version : Using vBGallery images in profile customization

Is there anyway to use photos from vBGallery as a background image when customizing the profile page? I have the default VB albums turned off and the URL of images from vBGallery doesn't seem to work.

well I guess how are you calling an image? You would most likely need to issue some sort of plugin etc with a query to grab user images and grab an image.

This isn't a big issue, although it would be a plus. With the regular VB albums the image link would be something like this.
As for vBGallery I've tried using all three available links, Direct Link Code, BB Image Code and <img> Tag Code but none work.

well they would work provided as I stated you make some kind of code modification to grab an image. The vbgallery files are stored like this.

I tried searching on the net and found nothing. I'm surprised there isn't a tweak, edit or something for this.

I guess that would depend if anyone every thought of doing something like that and released it for others. Apparently you are the first to think of it. The product itself has a photo block to show photos in profile by default.

I'm not very familiar with the background images, but i always thought they HAD to be inside the Albums to work.

That's correct, the picture is called from a php file.

Well i suppose the only way to use it as background is to move the pic to the album.. because:
I suppose the background image function of vb also checks the albumid, if the album belongs to that user, so users cannot use other peoples backgrounds etc... and permissions, is that usergroup allowed to use images from their album for background.. etc..
So if it is not in album, you probably wont be able to use it..
IF you have album turned off, I do not think the background function will work.. (unless for images allready uploaded before you turned it off)
IMHO, i think the only way of achieving this is by moving or copying a picture from vbgallery to the album.
As in a couple of months vb4 is going to come out, i do not think anyone will write something like that because it is very time consuming and will probably be obsolete by the end of the year
The easieast way to achieve what you want, is to write a tutorial for your users to rightclick an image.. save as on their computer and upload it to album (that you can turn on with restrictions) so they can use it as background...

That would indeed be the easiest thing without writing some plugin

I just have the background image part of the profile customization turned off.
