View Full Version : Thumnail and directory problem
December 24th, 2008, 10:31 AM
I recently swapped servers and all my thumbnails are dead. When i open a picture and try to rebuild a thumbnail i get this error :
Error creating thumbnail! Error code: 1
"/usr/bin/mogrify" +profile "*" -size 0x100 -quality 70 -geometry 0x100 '/mnt/target03/362362/373026/www.315er.net/web/content/photo/2/thumbs/100_1108.jpg'
The problem is there should be a "data" directory between "photo" and "2" in that path. I can't seem to figure out where this is in the config.

If you set your processor to GD2 do uploads work? Did you reset permissions on the data and uploads directories and change the paths to the new paths in the admin area?

permissions are set and i thought i had the paths right, they all appear correct but it's not because that path posted above is missing the data directory in it

do my paths and urls need a "/" on the end of them in the edit integration admin screen?

The paths are in the global options and yes must be the full server path to the data directory with a trailing slash on it. That of course is if your talking about photopost pro. In vbgallery the data directory is called files and you do not use a trailing slash but based on your error your talking photopost pro.

I installed it so long ago i forgot what exactly i have, the bottom of the pages says this:
"Powered by: PhotoPost PHP vB3 Enhanced
Copyright © 2006 All Enthusiast, Inc."
here is another layer of conufsion, if i right click on the broken thumbnail and pull up properties i see this:
the location points to the "nothumb.gif" but the "alternate text" and "title" point to the correct thumbnail location. If i cut and paste it in i get see the thumbnail.
Does this mean i still have my paths screwed up in the global options?

Check the urls and paths in global options and storage options in admin. Make sure your not using any htaccess that interferes with anything.

thanks for spending so much time with me on this....
I think my paths are all correct and there are no htaccess files to edit
when i look storage options these are my current settings
Current PATH setting: /mnt/target03/362362/373026/www.315er.net/web/content/photo/
Default PATH setting: /mnt/target03/362362/373026/www.315er.net/web/content/photo/
Current URL setting: http://www.315er.net/photo/data
Default URL setting: http://www.315er.net/photo/data
Why is there no data directory showing up in my path settings?
I changed it to end in the data dir and nothing was fixed

this might be part of the same problem, maybe it's a clue..
this the error i get when i try to upload a picture
Unable to move file [/tmp/phpJ1d2dC] [/mnt/target03/362362/373026/www.315er.net/web/content/photo/uploads//4/maptoish.jpg]
there is the weird double "//" after uploads in that path
December 29th, 2008, 09:21 PM
i fixed the double "//" by taking the last "/" off the path to UPLOADS directory in the global options. now the error says
Unable to move file [/tmp/phpRHmGB5] [/mnt/target03/362362/373026/www.315er.net/web/content/photo/uploads/4/maptoish.jpg]
my "4" directory is empty, i think this /tmp directory is the problem

after all the screwing around it was a damn wrong path in the global config
i have thumbnails back, can't upload anything but i can see what i got

Okay well now that your paths are correct make sure as priorly noted your permissions are set to 777 permissions recursively on the data and uploads directories.

For all that messing around and thinking my new host sucks it all came down to the simple solutions. Fix the paths and permissions
Thank you for all your help Chuck
