I want to intergrate my simple Machines Forum into my photopost gallery. I am not sure where to start or how to go about this. I have also lost my header. I can see it on my webhost Cpanel - File Manager. I also tried to add it in the global area but everything I tried fails to work.

Thanks!

To integrate with SMF you need to install the application and on the config make sure to enter the rigt database info for both applications where asked select external integration and on step 4 make sure to select SMF as the integration type and answer every last question correctly on step 4 like table prefix smf cookiename etc and you will be integrated with SMF.

As far as linking an html header to load it in admin global options you place the server path to the header including filename not a url. Number one mistake people make there is where it says use server path they use a url.

Ok so I already have the photopost up and running. I want to intergrate my forum over. Do I use the PhotoPost Integration Administration side of photopost and fill in the boxes? Do I need to change all the off to on?

Do I need to change anything else and do I have to change anything in my database?

Thanks so much for your help.

No you do not use the admin in anyway for that unless you want to break things. You need to correctly run the install script and input all the proper info when asked as I have outlined in my last post months ago.

I can run the install again with out messing up anything? It says I am going to do a new install. Will it over write everything. I don't want loose all that I have uploaded.

Thanks!

Well your users wont exist in SMF so if you did not install correctly you wil have issues sure. My suggestion is to reinstall correctly and fresh as we noted months ago in my last post.

I am not worried about the forum only the gallery. I don't want to mess that up. So essentially I am going to run install and keep all files/folders as is in my cpanel and follow the install instructions and this will merge my forum while at the same time my gallery will not change only now it has a forum.

I am scared doing this so I want to make sure.

Thank-You!

I am getting this error on step 3.

Step 3: Setting up the PhotoPost database
Step 3: MySQL error reported:
Result: Duplicate entry '1' for key 1
Database: digit124_photopost

[I][...]

Database setup completed, but you aren't finished quite yet.

duplicate errors are not an issue. You want to make sure before you do an install you delete the photopost usergroup table. You can reinstall and keep photos and integrate with smf however as I have stated those gallery users will not exist in smf and your photos will be owned by the wrong users. You can try using this script after a successful reinstall to check and see if we can find the users with the same username in the forum and reassign the photos but we can not guaranatee you dont have issues since this was not installed correctly in the beginning.

Ok thanks Chuck. I will see what I can do now. The usergroup table would be in my database correct?

Lori

Chuck S

Correct in the photopost database yes the reinstall will update any other settings but you need to empty the usergroups table or delete it so we can on reinstall get the SMF usergroups into the photopost table not the standalone groups that are there now.

December 29th, 2007, 12:00 PM
ok I dropped the usergroup in my database. how do i add the smf usergroup? or will the install do that?

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 12:05 PM
You need to completely rerun through an install and correctly integrate with SMF by answering all the stuff correctly and selecting to integrate with SMF.

You did not specify the correct smf database in the user config portion or on step4 you did not input your smf table prefix. Make sure to also put your cookie name for smf in the proper place as well.

Ok this is my smf table prefix {user_smf1} correct? and where do I find the cookie info?

Thank-You

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 12:46 PM
I cant tell you what the prefix is but it should be in your config file for smf it is usually smf_

The cookie name would also be in the config file like something like this

SMFCookie463

There is no cookie prefix for one and it looks like you continually keep placing the wrong forum table prefix? is it really username_ I think not. It is most likely smf_

I can not tell you whats right or wrong here because this is not my site and you only know whats in your smf settings.php file.

Forums database table prefix for your forum (you may have chosen this initially when you installed your forum - leave blank if none or default):

smf_

Forum Cookie Prefix (if used, otherwise leave blank)

BLANK

SMFCookie463 IS THAT CORRECT?

We do offer installation service.

Database Tables Prefix: are
smf_

The cookies are: SMFCookie463

I tried those and still its not working.

What's the install to intergrate the forum to the gallery charge?

Thank-You.

Chuck S

If you use the proper information on the install and correctly integrate with smf it will work.

The install charge is 59.00

I think I have it but it doesn't look like it has fully taken on the forum styles, codes ect. I see it took on the color.

Chuck S

That looks to me like it is using the forum style. Looks to me like you got it if you login to the forum and are logged into the gallery and everything works your fine.

travel124
December 29th, 2007, 04:01 PM
It has taken on the forum colors but I wanted to eliminate my forum so I would only have one login to see the gallery and forum with it. shouldn't all of the catagories from the forum be transferred over to the gallery?

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 04:54 PM
No it should not and you cant elimate the forum. To integrate with a forum it means the forum has to exist and in SMF you have an integrated login which is the same as the forum and gallery and we can use the forum colors.

Therefore your site looks fine and is operating as it should.

travel124
December 29th, 2007, 06:49 PM
Well gee I guess I waisted alot of time here. I wanted my gallery to have a forum style where you could have catagories with pictures and people could chat back and forth under certain catagories.

All it did was allow me the same login and same color.

Somewhat like this one:

A forum and gallery are completely separate products. forums are for discussions. galleries are for photos to be uploaded to and have comments places on them.

travel124
December 29th, 2007, 08:07 PM
humm, I am just wondering how with the link I gave you that site is able to intergrate everything. Is that because they have a total different forum, like a Vb or something?

I just get tired of duplicating posts between my forum, blog and gallery.

Thanks much.

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 08:52 PM
You have linked a vbulletin forum with some posts there is no gallery on that page or anything of the sort. So that link is really invalid in this discussion as it has nothing to do with the gallery. The gallery on that site is here

http://www.digishoptalk.com/gallery/

and there forum is here

http://www.digishoptalk.com/boards/

Its no different then your site. The forum is in one place and the gallery in another.

travel124
December 29th, 2007, 09:47 PM
Yes they are all linked together somehow on the top of the pages. I would love to be able to do that with my blog, forum, store and gallery.

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 10:19 PM
Not sure what your seeing we dont there is nothing of the gallery showing on the forum.

If your talking about header links then simply place header links in your header. That would be my suggestion as thats simple html links.

travel124
December 29th, 2007, 10:28 PM
Yep that's what I am talking about. header links. That's not simple to me..lol

Chuck S
December 29th, 2007, 11:17 PM
Its just html links like this below. You in Admin go to Global Options and place a server path to a header file that exists on your site you have created and you can in Edit Header in Admin place whatever html you wish for your header there. I cant tell you how to edit anything on your forum as I do not use smf you might need to ask support on that product on their support site.

That's fine Chuck, you've helped me out alot anyways. Thanks so much for your tiime, I really appreciate it.

Can you help me get rid of this? It comes up just after I upload a pic and where I fill in the info about it. I have re-uploaded all me catagories.

scrapn.com/gallery/bulkupload.php?ppaction=addphotos&do=preview&
photopath=1&upuser=travel12&notify=yes&rating=&comments=yes&defcat=500&deftitle

Also my members are not showing up like before. I can only see them in my admin part.

Your not really reporting any issue though thats a simple bulkupload url when someone uploads a pic. So whats your issue?

travel124
December 30th, 2007, 11:57 PM
my users cannot login now.

Chuck S
December 31st, 2007, 08:38 AM
Well what did you change? You have gone back and forth here a few times installing changing things you had it working now you dont.

I show your setting your cookies to work only on your forums directory and not site wide.

travel124
December 31st, 2007, 09:31 AM
No as soon as I migrated the forum over my users were not able to login to the gallery.

What are my cookies or where do I find that?

PhotoPost Cookie Path:

Forum Cookie Prefix: smf_ do I need to fill this one?

Chuck S
December 31st, 2007, 09:40 AM
You need to ask how to set your cookie to be global in SMF support forum I dont use that forum

right now the cookie is being created like so

/forum/

your cookie path needs to be like this

/

Your photopost cookies should be this

cookie path /

cookie prefix blank

cookie domain .digitalscrapn.com

You should then be fine.
