View Full Version : I always have to scan the database when ...
May 22nd, 2007, 10:21 PM
.. someone inserts a picture it will show a blank name and then I have to go to Check here to resync photo/comments usernames/update comments counts. and run that after that it will show up in the correct name and folder??!!! What can I do to change that? I am running a phpbb forum.
Why doesn't it just automatically put it in the correct folder. The person has to be logged in to upload a picture so why doesn't it show until I scan the database? I don't always think about doing that so people wonder where their picture are when they click on their galleries.

Do you have an example here a url and test login?
Not sure what you mean by blank name
May 23rd, 2007, 11:45 AM
YEs for sure I set one up at hookedondigiscrap.com/photopost user is testing password is test Here I uploaded a picture of a person http://www.hookedondigiscrap.com/photopost/ it shows in the recent uploads, but if I go to member galleries under user its blank: http://www.hookedondigiscrap.com/photopost/showmembers.php/cat/500 but then when I go to scan database and choose resync then it will say Testing as the user ....
Thanks Chuck for checking this out for me.

You have the wrong integration or something checked like vb2 not phpbb
You need to install the application to integrate with your proper forum
May 23rd, 2007, 12:27 PM
Thanks for checking that out can you point me in the right direction to fix that? CAuse when I go edit integration in my admin its all on off:
Do you want to enable the vB3 Integration which uses your vB3 headers, footers and styles? Off
Do you want to enable the vB3 Enhanced features which use vB3 controls in PhotoPost? Off
If using the Enhanced option above, do you want to enable the vB3 WYSIWYG control in Post Comments? Off
Do you want to enable the vB2 Integration which uses your vB2 headers and footers? Off
Do you want to enable the vB2Portal Integration which uses your vB2 Portal headers and footers? Off
If enabled, Server Path to vBPortal directory
May 23rd, 2007, 02:01 PM
It is the integration you set things to when you install the application under forum settings in admin
I notice on upload it throws a mysql error saying it cant grab the forum database info and the integration type. It looks to me your integrating with the wrong forum type.
If you have a database viewer like phpmyadmin I would suggest checking your photopost database table settings and make sure setting 41 says phpbb2 and setting 83 has phpbb_. You can also check your config to make sure it has all the right database info
May 23rd, 2007, 06:11 PM
Hmm well first off thanks for the info - secondly I went into my phpadmin and under line ID 41 User REgistration System it says vbversion phpbb2, and under ID 83 Forum database table prefix dprefix itsays phpbb_ and also looking in my Admin>URL to your forums main directory
This is the URL path to your forum installation=http://www.hookedondigiscrap.com/forums
and then User Registration System is set to phpbb2
and Forum database table prefix is phpbb_
and since I don't have V3 this Use Integrated forum stylesheets?
If you use a forum like vB3 or Threads and want to use the intergated stylesheet option, choose Yes - is set to NO.
So I guess something must have gone wrong somewhere. Just don't know where. But I appreciate your help!!! :)

Is the right database info for phpbb entered in the config file
Do you not see the same mysql error I see when uploading a file?
I would suggest you download the build also and replace your files incase you have modified anything at all
May 23rd, 2007, 09:36 PM
I DO see the same error - its called in www/photopost/forum/phpbb2.php line 29 .... And when I uploaded photopost I made sure I got the correct selection phpbb2 and the paths .. I didn't touch those - whatever was set is how I left them - I don't even know how I would go on changing the paths but I will take a look at all my files. Thanks
May 24th, 2007, 06:07 AM
Upgrade your phpbb2 to one that we support ;) You must be on version 2.018 or above I beleive
May 24th, 2007, 09:03 AM
OK I just installed the newest version, I have version 2.0.22, but will do it again.
Thanks so much!!!
May 24th, 2007, 09:12 AM
That error tells me you do not because we can not query the phpbb session table
May 24th, 2007, 09:23 AM
Hmm then something definatley went wrong cause even in my admin it says this: Powered by phpBB 2.0.22 © 2001 phpBB Group
that is very strange ....
May 24th, 2007, 09:32 AM
Is your phpbb forum okay because basically we can not query the phpbb database thats your issue
Make sure you upload clean photopost files except the configs.
Check your phpbb database tables to ensure they are not corrupt and in the Photopost config-inc.php file the proper database info in user database is there for phpbb
May 24th, 2007, 09:37 AM
Everything seems to run ok I haven't had any forum problems, I did have problems with people getting errors but that was because I had a cashmod installed - which I got rid of. I appreciate your promtness in your answers and your helpfulness .. I am a bit hesitant to change certain files because I am not like an experienced installer, ... but I will go ahead and take my time and only import the old user file and old post file and try everything else new.
Thanks again ...
May 24th, 2007, 09:46 AM
With Photopost you upload everything except the config files and you will be fine as far as our files.
The specific error you have on upload tells me we cant query the phpbb database
May 26th, 2007, 10:16 AM
Hey again sorry to be a bother - I just don't want to loose all the picture you said not to upload the config file, but where do all thepictures get loaded up to? So I don't overwrite those either - and the comments. I want to make sure that people don't have to upload all over again.
May 26th, 2007, 03:35 PM
That is the database tables and data folder.
You can not overwrite pictures if you do what I stated
May 26th, 2007, 04:03 PM
OK great Thanks just wanna be on the safe side :) Thank you!!! I have installed the forum already so going to work on it and then move over to the photopost :) THANK YOU!!!

May 26th, 2007, 10:19 PM
WOW after a whole day of upgrading the forum, I downloaded a brand new version to make sure I had phpbb2.02 .. I installed it brand new I only used users and posts to upload to the database otherwise I left evreything new ... and now installing a brand new downloaded photopost new ...
I STILL GET THE SAME ERROR !!!! How can that be??? Oh I am so exhausted .... I made sure that I selected phpbb and then phpbbmysql Its definitley phpbb2!!!
What could be the problem ???
May 27th, 2007, 09:45 AM
That all depends on what your answering wrong on the install and what specifically your error is?
May 27th, 2007, 09:52 AM
well the error I am getting is this: Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MYSWL result resouce in /mnt/w0301/d36/s32/b0271d37/www/photopost/forums/phpbb2/php on line 29
May 27th, 2007, 12:10 PM
Why do you have a / between phpbb2/php your error should be this
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MYSWL result resouce in /mnt/w0301/d36/s32/b0271d37/www/photopost/forums/phpbb2.php on line 29
Given your error though I would suggest that on install you have done one of two things wrong which I think I already brought up
1. Your database info under user database in the config on first step of install is wrong
2. You did not input on step 4 of install the correct phpbb2 database table prefix usually phpbb_
These are the only two errors that would cause that error
May 27th, 2007, 09:02 PM
My bad on the / it is indeed a .php not /php .. as far as your #2 goes this is what I have:
and #1 I checked to make sure that the I copied it exactly the way I had it set up in my sql ... this is very frustrating ... but I appreciate your input ;)
May 28th, 2007, 01:34 AM
I can not tell you what is right or wrong here but clearly the query to grab your phpbb info is failing which is one of those two things so is the database info correct in the config?
Like I said either one of those causes the issue
May 28th, 2007, 08:07 AM
I understand what you are saying, and I really don't know how else to check if the config is right ... I checked my admin>Edit config and compared IT with my php admin wich has the same info. I also checked the actual file config-inc.php and that was the same info - is there another place where the database info is being put in?? I had MyPhpAdmin open to make sure I input the same numbers which is on the same database as the forum. IF you could list me the files to check I would much appreciate it.
May 28th, 2007, 08:15 AM
It is config-inc.php for the database info and settings table in mysql for your settings
Obviously you have made the same mistake installing both times and you never clearly identified what your mistake was the first time. I however can only post suggestions based on the error you post here and as such my post remains unchanged the only two things I know of that would produce such an error is the wrong table prefix used in the settings as I noted or the wrong database information for the user database in the config file
May 28th, 2007, 08:55 AM
I understand, but if I have one database with a number d1234567 and a u 1234567 and a password 98765 and then its asking me for the forum prefix which is phpbb_ and which prefix I'd like to use for photopost which is pp_ and then its asking me what is the host MYSQLHOST then the database name ... I can only input one number as there are no other numbers available ... I only have one other database and that one is for my store I never even touched that one it clearly says forums PHPADMIN ...
Anyway obvoiusly I have to live with it as I don't know what could have gone wrong by inserting a number ... oh well ... thanks anyways.
May 28th, 2007, 11:45 AM
Well you got your main one working so this test you just delete
May 28th, 2007, 12:24 PM
I am so confused I don't even know what is going on anymore because now I am also getting a time out error as well ....
Warning: mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MYSQL result resouce in /mnt/w0301/d36/s32/b0271d37/www/photopost/forums/phpbb2.php on line 29 Lost connection to MySQL server during query
I give up I don't know enough to make sense of this ... :(
Thank you though !!!!!
May 28th, 2007, 01:10 PM
We do offer installation service.
Your only allowed to have one install and you have your main install working right so this second install you must delete
May 28th, 2007, 01:42 PM
How do I do that? I deleted the first database ... I ony have one so I think ...
May 28th, 2007, 02:53 PM
Why would you delete the first install if you got it working?
At any rate you would need to install the application to correctly integrate with the forum. With the error your posting you need to use phpbb 2.018 and above not phpbb 3 and then you need to follow closely the two sections I note
May 28th, 2007, 03:26 PM
Your only allowed to have one install and you have your main install working right so this second install you must delete
You said I was only allowed one install - I only have one install.
Why would you delete the first install if you got it working? I deleted it so I could start fresh.
At any rate you would need to install the application to correctly integrate with the forum. With the error your posting you need to use phpbb 2.018 and above not phpbb 3 and then you need to follow closely the two sections I note I don't have phpbb3 I have phpbb 2.022.
May 28th, 2007, 05:10 PM
As I noted you need to install and pay attention to the two things I noted. If you get an error you can not query the phpbb users table then your info your entering must be wrong
May 28th, 2007, 05:53 PM
OK one more time ;)
This is my database:
The information blacked out is the same as on this page:
and then this is Section 4 of the install:
and this is what my folders look like on my ftp:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v512/Austy25/ftp1.jpg so unless I totally messed something up I don't see how I put in something wrong. But I hope you can tell me this time around.
May 28th, 2007, 06:19 PM
I would suggest you get your database information from your phpbb2 config.php file
I can not tell you what is right or wrong and a bunch of blacked out pictures will not help that.
May 28th, 2007, 06:33 PM
OK! Thanks that all matches up as well ... Sorry I couldn't figure it out sooner but it had nothing directly to do with the installation as you mentioned. The error was in the cookies setting in the admin>edit cookies .. I did not type in .hookedondigiscrap.com - now it works perfect.
Thanks for trying to help!!!
