View Full Version : Import from photopost to a fresh install of photo post

Over the multiple years of running vb and photo post, our site ended up as spaghetti code, so we are going with fresh installs of all our software. We would like to import from our old photopost install into our new install, so everything is neat and done with no more spaghetti code.
Can you please give me insights and directions on how to do this since there is not an importer designed for this that I could find.

There is no import. Photopost all you need to do is upgrade your files and run the upgrade since your uploading new files there is no need to reinstall anything to get rid of hacks

I do not think you understand what we are doing, we are building a fully functional clone to get rid of all the mess. I know that whomever initially set up our site, syslinked a ton of image directories etc etc, so this keeps apache bouncing through directories to build pages which is greatly affecting our server load. Thus we want to start with fresh installs of everything.
We cannot really overwrite the current accounts as there is a lot of crap in there and we do not know what is linked to what and so forth, so we are starting a stand alone clone and import all the data into it so we can basically start from ground zero.

What I am saying is once you upgrade Photopost there is no mess. You can correct paths as you wish but your only recourse is to upgrade or start a fresh install with nothing in it. There is no way to copy data or import things since the databases are different.
So you need to clone your existing install correct all urls and paths and then upgrade it as noted by me.
