View Full Version : LogOut Button does not work
December 21st, 2006, 04:32 PM
The "LogOut" Button does not work in the gallery section (though it does work in the forum). When I click the button, either a) the page simply refreshed w/o logging me out or b) I'm taken to a "page not found" page. Any idea why this is happening?

Your forum and gallery cookies are not synced for one and please post a link and test login so we can see what you mean by page not found.

How do you sync the cookies?

Well if you gave me more info I might be able to help more but basically you need to login to each program and set cookies the same as in maybe this
cookie path /
cookie prefix blank or bb depends on what your integrating with really but must match
cookie domain .domain.com this will enable the cookie to be read across all subdomains so set it to your domain name with a period in front

Okay, I tried this with no luck.
The forum URL is http://www.breederretriever.com/forums/
The main photopost URL is http://www.breederretriever.com/photopost/
A test account is username: testacct
For testing log in at the forums and then click "Dog Photos" on the left. Then scroll down to the bottom and click log out. A confirmation alert appears. Press yes, and nothing happens (I think the page might refresh).
I am running vB 3.63
Path to save cookies (vb): /
Path so save cookies (PP): /
Forum Cookie Prefix (PP):
PhotoPost Cookie Domain (PP): .breederretriever.com
..still no luck

Well first thing I see if your Photopost your setting your cookie prefix blank but your using vbulletin which means it should be bb. You can check this in your vbulleitn config file. If so you need to set Photopost to match this. Also since your using vbulletin for logins to be integrated on install we asked you in the config settings the vbulletin license number. Did you enter the license number not customer number there?
Since I was able to upload a photo I think your issue is simply one of not having the cookie prefix set to bb in Photopost. Just make sure this is set and you should be okay but I think my comments have gone through everything that could be wrong

still not working... the license # is correct and i even tried updating the path to save cookies in both the forums and photo post to /forums/
i know photopost is getting the cookies because when i log in at the forums and then go to photopost im still logged in.
i also changed the prefix for cookies photopost to bb and this is consistent with the vb config file.
any other ideas?

That is not correct from what I see now Photopost does not work at all
Both applications need to be set to this for cookies to be integrated and always before checking clear cookies after any change
Cookie Path: /
Cookie Prefix: bb
Cookie Domain: .breederretriever.com

I have all the settings exactly as mentioned in your last post, and it still isn't working for me after clearing cookies (photopost is working, but the log out page is not).
Is it working for you?

...? Need to get this working

The link for Log out in the bottom footer needs to be modified to use a full path to your forums directory.
You can edit your footer template in vB to replace the link with the proper URL (example: /forum/login.php)

Whew, thank you! We finally did it.
In case others ever have this problem, I still have no idea what caused it but I can tell you that I fixed it by editing the footer as advised.
More specifically, you find the line under
<!-- member logout -->
And modify the link URL so that it uses the forums login page instead of the photopost one. The way I did this was by changing it to:
<a href="http://www.breederretriever.com/forums/login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout&logouthash=$bbuserinfo[logouthash]" onclick="return log_out()"><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]">$vbphrase[log_out_x]</phrase></a>
As far as I can tell, this did the trick!
