View Full Version : ...do I set PhotoPost to get bigger .avi?
August 29th, 2006, 08:05 AM
on my vb3.6 test forum powered with PP last release.
I am not able to upload an .avi file on my gallery. (admin account)
Settings were done accordingly with file size and at the end even much more permissive.
- Maximum multimedia upload size in Kb : 1000000
- Acceptable multimedia file types? : .mpeg,.mpg,.avi,.asf,.wmv,.mov
the file I am trying to upload is a normal .avi (8.4Mb) and correctly working on my WMP with standard codecs. (DivX Codec 24 bit 151kbps 25 frames/s)
when I try to upload it PP will "think" 30/35 seconds and then will refresh the upload page, ready to insert a new pic/mmedia but without having performed the previous upoad &/or having displayed any error message.
Please consider that I have succesfully uploaded other .avi files and .mpg too.
Where have I missed something?

You can not upload a file larger than your PHP settings allow. That is the first place I would look at. Link to your PHP info on the site.

Provider wont change anything on the configuration.
Is there anyway to do it w/o my provider has to do something?

I dont know your site nor do I keep site details. You can post a url here
If your host will not change anything we note here you are simply limited to your servers php settings
You can post a link to php settings here as well.

well my hint would be to alter your memory_limit to say 32M and max_execution_time to say 0 if you want to do multimedia uploads. Your max filesize is 10M which is fine for files up to that.

ok is that something I can do by myself or is something my provider has to do?
Is your gallery having same limits? I uploaded same picture to my profile in ur gallery and did exactly the same.
ty again so much u are superfaaast!&patient

Our gallery is not set for large uploads at all.
You can add this in pp-inc.php in bold.
error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);
if ( VB3_INTEGRATION == "off" )
Now however if your page is not timing out or such and your simply loading like the file upload is never done there may be someone other way your host is limited server uploads but we shall see

..hmm I've done that but .something else is there as I could not fix the issue.
A question. but if limits are exceeded no advisory message appear for both php and PP??
Even in ur site i was not told that limit is exceeded, just the page will stay there as it is. (no events). is that correct?
p.s. as disk space my host "advertise" that is "Unlimited" now I do realize where is the bug. ....they sellers!
