View Full Version : Using inc_features.php on different domain same server?
April 27th, 2006, 11:45 PM
I am trying to use inc_features.php to display random pictures on a DIFFERENT domain than the pp install. The inc_features.php works great with vBulletin on its own domain but cannot get it to work on a different domain. The other domain is on the same server and is using vBulletin as well.
Any help would be appreciated!

What do you mean it won't work? Should work fine that I see. You would need to post any errors here so I can assist.

It should be vbulletin database of the site that im trying to put the featured photos on or the one that is integrated with PP?

Can't get this to work... tried using the inc_features that is being used here (http://www.defencetalk.com/forums/), no error but no pics either. Also, tried changing the forum info to the OTHER domain but that gives error...

You would need to uncomment the $link and mysql select db statements and fill in the proper info to connect to photopost and then at the bottom of the file the database to the correct database.
If the server info for mysql and paths are all on the same server there should be no issues here.

Well, at the bottom what should be the "correct" database? The one that Photopost is integrated with OR the one on the OTHER domain?
I changed the info from the old inc_features.php to inc_features2.php and inserted database information for the vbulletin installed on the other domain.

The top would be the photopost info and the bottom would be the vbulletin info of the vbulletin forum your integrating this with.

So database names like pp is user1.com domain is like USER1_ppdatabasename and vBulletin in USER1_databasename but it changes on other domain:
user2.com is user2_databasename for vbulletin but im trying to pull the pics from USER1_ppdatabasename
Would that really work? I tried everything. :(

Okay let's go through this again.
You can use this on separate domains if the programs are on the same server and mysql is on the same server. These are the parameters.
Therefore if those requirements are met then simply place the proper routines where they are needed. Fill out the $link and mysql select db lines with the proper info to connect to Photopost database in inc_features2.php. Then at the bottom place the forum database information to connect to the vb forum the include is being shown on so vb can continue on with its stuff ;)

Okay, I will give it another try. Sorry about the confusion.

No confusion at all.
As long as it is being used as stated and everything is accessible it should work fine. Just post any exact error here and I can assist. The one error you did post I responded to and we are trying to move forward from there.

Apparently, I was inserting information for the vbulletin that is installed on the OTHER domain rather than username and password for the PP database it self.... ;) So, see link posted above to see it fixed.
