View Full Version : Logo/Images Appear in Index But Not Categories
December 3rd, 2005, 10:30 AM
When I first installed PhotoPost, my index page was missing my logo and assorted images that go with my vBulletin template (custom template). I placed the folder in photopost/images and the index page looks great. All of my images and logo appear now. However, when I click into a subcategory, I have the same problem.
When I look at the code in an attempt to troubleshoot, this is what I see for my logo:
The URL is: http://www.everythingtreo.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/10/limit/recent
If you go to the index of the photo gallery (http://www.everythingtreo.com/photopost), everything looks great.
Any suggestions on how to fix. I'm not great at code, so please be specific if it requires code editing.

A temporary fix was to disable search engine friendly URL's. How do I turn these back on and get the images to display correctly?
Thanks in advance.

Hello yes your using a custom template
The easy fix is in Vbulletin styles admin view the style settings and make the paths to the images/element/misc relative url a full url http://www.domain.com/forum/images/element/misc

Thanks for the quick reply. This worked perfectly!
I installed Photopost in a different mySQL db than vb3 -- is there any advantage to installing in the vBulletin database? If so, how hard would it be to move now that I already have it installed?

well I leave them separate cause vbulletin tends to get pretty big fast so the bigger the database the slower it can be. However you can run them together just fine if you want. You simply copy the tables over to vb database and leave the present database intact. You then switch in the photopost config the photopost database to the vb one. Its that simple. after everything is running smooth you can get rid of the other database.
I use to run them together and once my database got pretty big I started separating programs. Usually you save time not having to switch databases but as databases get huge that becomes a mute point and separate ones make sense.

Excellent. I'll keep the set up as is.
One last question: Do you recommend a maximum pixel size w/h for uploads or just keep the default? I have a fixed template and it tends to look a little sloppy when the large image is displayed (I had the same issue on my main forums when someone pointed to a photo that was beyond the width of the forum). Can the large image "pop-up"?
Thanks again for your prompt responses. Great software. Great support. Makes me feel even better about my purchase.
I was very excited to see the mobile gallery. I'm going to tackle this next week. My site is related to the Treo smartphone -- so everyone of my members are running around with cameras AND email applications. I'm thinking this could be an awesome feature on the site.
Have a great weekend.

Yes set medium to say 500 so your page doesnt span and in showphoto options in admin set show large image in popup window to yes
