Is is chmoded to 777?
March 25th, 2005, 09:15 PM
Do you have it set to watermark images permanently? If not, then it will only work for new images uploaded.
March 25th, 2005, 09:17 PM
what is 777
also Brian, I uploaded new pics and still nothing
March 25th, 2005, 09:18 PM
Not sure what it would be then assuming the path is correct. I'll take a look real quick though since you still have your support ticket open.
Looks like the problem is that you're trying to use a .gif image with GD as your resizing program. You need to change it to a .png or use ImageMagick as your resizing program.

I made a png file and then uploaded a new pic. Still nothing on it
what can I do?
March 26th, 2005, 12:03 PM
please help guys...i cant get it to work
March 29th, 2005, 06:58 PM
I'm having the same problem. Can't get watermarks to work.
April 12th, 2005, 08:15 PM
Me too. I have installed most recent version of GD2.
Also made sure path is correct, but still, it just won't work.
I made a png file, tried gif, jpg... nothing works.
One thing to mention is that I am running it all on IIS server.
But everything else works, forum, gallery, creation of thumbnails... whole nine yards, except this.
Can someone help?

Make sure your watermark is smaller than your image.
April 12th, 2005, 10:57 PM
What do you have set for the path?
June 13th, 2005, 10:18 AM
Im having the exact same issue, no matter what i do to try to fix this, its not working, im using a png aswell...
I have done everything correctly and checked it over and over again... still doesn't work!

You should upgrade to the latest version.
June 13th, 2005, 10:38 AM
would that be why...? did it not work in the version im using now...?
June 13th, 2005, 10:39 AM
To be honest, I don't remember for sure. I know there have been some issues with watermarks in previous versions though, and you're 2 behind the current version, so that would be a good place to start. :)
June 13th, 2005, 10:43 AM
are there any bugs in the new version that will need fixing...? sorry to go off subject... i have had bad experiences with upgrading other stuff and tend to stay away from upgrades unless its essential.
June 13th, 2005, 10:52 AM
Every version of every major script is going to have bugs. One of the main points of releasing new versions though is to fix currently known bugs. ;)
June 13th, 2005, 11:03 AM
exactly my point...
I tried to upgrade and got the following error on the 2nd step
Database error in vBulletin 3.0.3:
Invalid SQL: INSERT INTO datastore (title) VALUES ('gallery_ugroups')
mysql error: Duplicate entry 'gallery_ugroups' for key 1
mysql error number: 1062

Though I *know* I fixed that on the files here, so now I need to go figure out how those changes were lost...

Ok i have upgraded, i need to adjust this again:
Its too wide and stretching the skin, i had to do this last time but forgot how to do it now...
also found a bug...
is a sub cat of uk but in the links tree it doesnt say that and it says there are no images in uk, it was fine before the upgrade, any ideas...? it should be:
MajorFm.com Members Gallery > Night Life > UK > Milton Keynes
also the watermark thing still doesnt work...
June 13th, 2005, 12:05 PM
Would you mind submitting a support ticket so I can have a look at those last 2 issues?
June 13th, 2005, 12:14 PM
i didnt know about support tickets, just found it, will do... thanks.

I'm having the same problem with Watermarks too and was wondering if someone could advise me please?
My current images were watermarked previously for my website but any future images uploaded to my gallery I would like watermarked. My settings are as follows:
Permanently Watermark Images "No"
Thanks inadvance :)

Do you have GD installed on the server? The gallery requires GD if you're not permanently watermarking your images.
August 18th, 2005, 12:48 PM
When i use a jpg file, my watermarks work, but when I use a gif, it doesn't. I want to use a gif because I want the watermark to be transparent, and the jpg isn't. Can we not use gifs with the GD library?
August 18th, 2005, 12:50 PM
Use a transparent PNG file for your watermark. It should work with GD 2+ or IM.
August 18th, 2005, 01:09 PM
Thanks! It worked.

Ok.. I am STILL having problems even after reading this thread.
I have used png and jpg, I have checked the file path, I use GD2, and I have chmodded my folder to 777. And nothing is working.
What is the trick here? Can someone add a step by step guide on how to add the watermarks to the images in the VBgallery.
