View Full Version : PP, IPB2 on different subdomains
June 23rd, 2005, 02:47 AM
I have a problem with integrating PP and IPB2.
I followed the install script, and went OK.
When I login from PP, it says successful login, redirecting.. And then PP main page says 'Users browsing the gallery: 1 unregistered user ' and I cannot access the admin page (and I'm admin of my forum).
Since I want to introduce this service for a community (15k+ users), first I want to test the whole stuff before moving live.
Currently, my forum is on a subdomain (forum.bbbbb.ccc) and PP will be on another subdomain (album.bbbbb.ccc).
The cookies from PP and IPB are almost identical (of course, the timestamps are different), but they both have my loginname and userid.
Could you tell me what to do?
Thank you in advance.

Please check to see if PP "PhotoPost Cookie Domain" is using : .mysite.com
and that your "PhotoPost Cookie Path" is set to : /
The PP cookie setting "URL to your forums main directory" set this to use the forum subdomain

I did that.
However, when I login from PP, it says again 'Login successful' but after the redirection it seems I'm still not logged in into PP. (but I'm logged in into my forum).
What more can I do? What info can I give that can help?

Do the cookie settings match identically? url and test login?

the cookie domain is the same for both.
excerpt from the confglobal.php of ipb2:
$INFO['cookie_domain'] = '.rpg.hu';
$INFO['cookie_id'] = 'rpg';
$INFO['cookie_path'] = '/';
copy from PP settings table:
171 PhotoPost Cookie Path cookie_path /
172 Forum Cookie Prefix cookieprefix rpg
173 PhotoPost Cookie .rpg.hu
is it possible to change the login method AFTER the installation?
maybe i'd try to install PP standalone with its own auth system and then use the ipb2 login system..

just for the sake of trying make the cookie prefix empty in both apps and see what happens

cool :) without the prefix it seems to be working.. thanks :)
(although my whole site is using these cookies for authentication, so it should work in the long run :( )
now I can login from PP too, but when I go to my forum, I have to relogin too :( and from the same browser I can login to PP with login1 and login to ipb with login2. (it should not work like this, I think)
Any suggestion on these?
Thank you in advance :)

What do you mean login 1 and login 2
You should be able to login to either the forum or photopost and be logged in automatically with the other application.
I beleive if I see this right your still using the cookie prefix on the forum try removing it

login1 = username1
login2 = username2
and yes :) i think it should log in automatically.. /but currently it doesn't/
in ipb, i deleted the cookie prefix from the conf file, the ipb_settings table, but it didn't work.
(couple hours later)
in ipb functions.php there is a line:
$name = $ibforums->vars['cookie_id'].$name;
around line 1920.
if i comment it, it's okay. it logs in in both system, without the cookie prefix.
/however, i don't understand where it gets the cookie_id variable... :-/ it's deleted from config file, db /
is it possible to get PP to use that cookie_id that i set in PP config? (because it sets the proper cookieprefix + cookie /i checked/ but does not use it)
it could save me the hassle of rewriting dozens of scripts :(

You do not have Invisionboard and Photopost using the same cookie settings. Guaranteed.
You need to PM me your admin login and I can assist. I found your forum but not photopost so you must also include your link to photopost as we have a language barrier as I cant read your site but I fumbled through enough to register a test account.
