View Full Version : Can not upload an image larger than 2 MB
April 8th, 2005, 12:55 AM
For some reason my users can not upload an image larger than 2 MB. I confirmed this myself by trying to upload a 2.5 MB image and PP will not let me.
I have file size limits set to off (0).
No file size limit. ZIP file uploads allowed (2MB limit).
This is a new problem in the last couple weeks.
PP does not come back with any error it just skips the "Add Photos - Select Photos / Configure Properties" screen altogether and goes to the "No more images found. Click here to return to gallery" screen and the image is not uploaded.
Could this be a host problem or is it a PP problem?

Whats your php max file size set to?
Check the value of your "Maximum multimedia upload size in Kb" in your Upload Photo section in your admin options - it's set to 2000 by default; try raising this value to something higher so that the MAX_FILE_SIZE in the form reflects a value higher than your largest upload.

Changed multimedia to 10000 - still will not allow larger uploads.
In PHP Info:
How do I change this?

php.ini you may or may not have access to it.
Look in your phpinfo file for its location.
Without being able to alter that file and allowing larger uploads no other setting will work as php is limited by the file

Make a .htaccess file in the root of your site with this inside:
php_value upload_max_filesize "4M"
Many hosts allow you to override php.ini setting via .htaccess

Worth a try although I would venture a guess maybe 15% of hosts max allow this. Major reason why I never suggest this to people. You'll know right away cause if your host doesnt your site will lock up with the white screen of death until you remove the variable from the htaccess

I got my host to increase the size to 5MB.

My multimedia is at 10,000 kb and the ZIP file size still says 2,000 kb so it looks like I'll be calling my webhost .. thanks for the information, though. Glad to find that the Search feature in these forums yeilds knowledgable results! Kudos for keeping the crap gone and the tech strong.
