I received the following mail today:

PhotoPost 5 is now available for immediate download. It is feature packed,
fast, and rock-solid.

Now until 3/31/2005, take an extra 15% off of renewal fees, license fees,
installation fees, copyright notice removal fees -- everything!

Yeah nive, reeeeally wonderful. I am a bit angry, because I renewed just about 1 month ago, BECAUSE I saw that Version 5 would be out soon and I wanted to use and test it. And right now, you give this offer, which I cannot use? This is more than unfair.

You could have told everyone during the Beta: Hold your feet still, if you have to renew. With the release, you will get a discount. But nooooo.

Thanks a lot. I will keep that in my mind, and it could be a reason for me to NOT install the new version and to change the software. I will be discussing this in our team.

You may want to wait for the discount for PP 6. Come on, is 15% off renew fee a lot? I also renewed in the beginning of March and I know how you feel, but it might not worth to complain about it.

I'm sure the recent discounts wasn't intended to slight those who had recently purchaced photopost. An email was sent to all concerned and i'm sure for the majority this discount would have been a benefit, It's the responsibility of the customer as & when to make the decision to purchase for any product, subsequent discounts or offers made on products for customers & non-customers alike are at the sole discretion of the company, who i'm sure acted for the benefit of thier customers.

Photopost 6.0 is not in development ;) We just released 5. Reviewpost 3 is going into development and Classifieds 2.2 will be out shortly with the vb3 enhancements of photopost. There is no date on when the next development of Photopost will begin.

The decision to put up the sale was only made recently and, of course, on any given day that you start it some people will have only recently missed out. It's unfortunate, but there really isn't a way to accomidate everyone - a sale is a sale when it starts until it ends.

I understand that, but what about offering the people who bought until about a month ago the software, a discount on their next purchase? That would be fair and has been practised by mone companies in this way. I have bought on february the 28th, some only days before the discount was announced.

I was a retail store manager for 20 yrs so I can add a point. When a sale runs a sale runs simple as Michael pointed out. It is pretty explicit.

The discount etc your talking about usually applies to retail outlets. As some offer a money difference guarantee for a specified time if you find the same product advertised for less elsewhere. That would not specifically apply to this situation as the product is not available anywhere else.

Rest assured though owners of this software will tell you from time to time we run sales and all you need to do is wait till the next email announcing a sale and order then. I can not say when sales will be but usually at least once a year maybe twice. All depends on the president of the company as he makes the rules.

While I realize we are only talking about $5 here (for membership renewal), but we don't have a way to retroactively apply a discount since the charges have already been approved and processed.
