Hi,

I plan to buy a gallery script soon. PhotoPost looks pretty good and seems to have lots of features. Just a few questions:

1) Are the files store in the file system or database?

2) I have my vBulletin forum and main site on different site/FTP accounts, but they are both on the same dedicated server. Ex: The forum is located at http://forums.mydomain.com and the main site at http://www.mydomain.com. Is it possible for me to install PhotoPost on my main site? Or would I have to move the forum to a directory on the main site (/forums/) for the gallery to work? I don't want to install the gallery under http://forums.mydomain.com/

3) Does PhotoPost use a separate database from the forum? (I think vBa Gallery shares db with the forum.)

4) Can PhotoPost use my vB forum's styles and images?

5) How much longer will the sale prices last?

Thanks in advance.

1) Filesystem. Database storage is a bad idea for many reasons. Although it can increase security by having stricter control over access to the images, it has many drawbacks. (Many of our users like to cross post their gallery pics into the forum posts and a db solution wouldn't work well in this case.)
2) You can install them on seperate sites just linking the user database.
3) Yes, we use our own database except when integrated with a forum we need access to the forum database.
4) Yes, good example is http://www.photopostdev.com
5) I don't have that information; sales are run out of the California groups offices.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I know what you mean. :) Before vB 3.0 the attachments were stored in the db only and it was a pain. My forum has tons of attachments (3 GB). I was so relieved to move them out of the database.

One more question... Does PhotoPost require hacking the vB 3 files to integrate Photopost with vB? It'd be nice if I don't need to edit the vB 3 files each time I upgrade vBulletin to make the PhotoPost work again.

no hacking, works without you altering a thing (vb wise)
