View Full Version : So... Where's the forum?

I think I might have done something really dumb.
I bought ReviewPost and (with a little help from Chuck) set it up on my server yesterday. Essentially what I needed was a very simple, closed-circulation forum which would feature images posted by the webmaster, not by users. It looks as if ReviewPost is much, much more comprehensive and powerful than anything I will need, but it what it doesn't seem to include is templates that will enable me to build a basic forum.

I now notice that even this very forum is powered by vBulletin: does that mean I'll need to buy another script to get my site running? If so, can anybody suggest a forum application that looks like this (I modelled my layout on it) but doesn't cost another hundred bucks?

Thanks

No, ReviewPost does not include a forum capability. There are some free forums out there; phpBB2 is one that comes to mind. vB has a lease option that is relatively inexpensive.

phpBB2 is a free forum as Michael stated and you can switch your integration type to tie in with that relatively simple.

You would install and select phpBB integration. You will out the proper information correctly that the install script asks such as cookie settings etc your logins will be integrated. Then in the admin options there is a switch that turns on or off the stylesheet integration with phpbb

If you have a specific stumbling block just open a support thread and we would be more than happy to assist you.

can you integrate the forum into reviewpost after reviewpost is installed without hurting reviewpost?

Since reviews are not technically displayed by username not so much a big deal in reviewpost. Just install the forum and go from there.

Techically the steps would be install the forum and switch integration types

register the users into the forum

then as admin reassign each review to the proper user since userid's change
