I beleive I did a change that would solve your issue view your vb4 site and see.
Kirby's suggestion was on target but a little two complex than needed and if done incorrectly then could lead to issues which of course you see. There should be no issues turning off vbgallery now as any modification I did was directly to vbgallery plugin and template.
