When i use the regular uploader it works fine. when i select flash uploader it doesn't work in any browser... I have the folders set to 777, and upload directly from the server is enabled.

It says it enables 3rd party software but it that included in the vbgallery installation?

Just to clarify i choose a valid jpg file, i let the file load until it says "1 image ready to upload" and then i click submit and the next page says no images, to an image i have already uploaded.
