Not sure what the comment meant above to different areas but I am assuming your just talking about your different gallery categories.
The checks are the same using the flash uploads versus regular upload. If you support flash you can use the flash uploader otherwise you get the regular upload.
We dont do individual permissions its all usergroup permissions just like the forum so unless your Kman account is in some usergroup by itself I have no idea. Nothing is done per user ever except storing files. I beleive I suggested you check your uploads directory previously you can try uploading and seeing if files show up.
