If the Photopost mysql tables are in the vbulletin database they would definately have the same password.
My suggestion is since your trying to access the
vb database then you need to make sure you have the correct mysql user and password entered in your photopost config-inc.php file. You say you recently updated vbulletin well apparently whom ever you had do the work changed your mysql password and caused this issue.
