Ok, everything is ok now.
I made the mstake of following
the instructions accompanying the download in the download area to the letter.
However, those instructions did not list all the files to be copied.
Perhaps for "novices" like me the Installation Manual linked to the download should be the same as the readme file that comes with the software, rather than just a generic one that doesn't apply to the current release.
