You can do that but essentially you would need to create a new usergroup for each user.
Now instead you can create new categories as you wish them to be called and when creating the cat you select your category type as members gallery and it will let that categories photos be sorted by users. Thats easier and does not require you to get all funky creating tons of special usergroups.
