Generally speaking, I would say your thumbnails are of exceptional quality. The uniform thumbnail feature uses a feature of ImageMagick to grab a center shot of an image; if you don't like the quality, you don't need to use the feature. We don't have any control over the ImageMagick executable and I believe my parameters are all correct for a valid thumbnail.
