The concept of
microformats has received a lot of coverage in the web design community over the past few months. Microformats offer a method of marking up your content so that it can be understood as a certain type of content. For example: as a review, a set of contact details, an event or a licence.
Numerous web sites publish reviews using a broad variety of schema for all sorts of things from products (movies, music, books), to businesses (restaurants, hotels, stores), to events (concerts, theatre), to people (artists, leaders, celebrities), to places (landmarks, parks), to online resources (web pages, files), to reviews of reviews themselves.
In order to enable and encourage the sharing, distribution, syndication, and aggregation, of reviews, the
hReview open standard microformat for distributed reviews has been decided on.
