I'm a n00b

I just installed a
vB system and have skinned it.
What I really want to do is to add some photos to the home page so that visitors figure out what the site is all about in a few seconds.
Will either sytem you sell work with my existing skin or does it use it's own template?
I **think** I like the idea of vBGalley best because I don't plan on using anything but
vB.
Imagine photos between the "Welcome" header and "Announcemnts" but still wrapped in the dark blue header with light blue background:
