Assuming that we really are talking about vBGallery and not PhotoPost Pro then no, re-running the installer is fine. When you run it there is an option to only re-install the templates but....
If you went from
vB 3.0.x to 3.5.x then you need to download the
vB 3.5.x compatible version, upload the files to your server (don't forget to apply the edits to the configuration file), run the install script and then choose the "Upgrade" option from the install script.
