Thanks for the responses but I am not too clear on the options, so let me see if I read you correctly:

1. I re-install PP 4.66. If I did this, would I lose the photos or does the setup process remove them?

2. I renew the PP licence and upgrade to PP 5.3. Would I lose the photos? The users does not matter - there is only one user - the admin. So, I could create one user and even if the old images are not assigned to him it does not matter

3. I install phpBB2 again, and re-import the old phpBB2 data into the phpBB2 tables. Would that work.

I don't care what happens to the old user (he's gone anyway). The main objective is to see if I can keep the old images while upgrading.

If I did that, would I be able to assign all the old images to the new user?

Sorry if I am asking the same question, but I really could use some clear advice on what to do with the current album which has 1435 images.
