OK - I tried editing menubar.tmpl.
I received the following error.

Unable to write changes, permissions on menubar.tmpl are not set properly.

The template directory as well as the menubar.tmpl file permissions are all set to 777 (I just verified this).
adm-misc.php is by default set to 644 - but even when I changed it to 777 I still received the same error (so I reset it to 644 again).
Appreciate the assistance.
