I was searching for a while for why some thumbnails weren't working. I found the answer in
this thread, but wanted to make a new thread to help people searching for keywords that don't include .gif (I didn't realize it was only .gif, I thought I had busted something when I upgraded to the latest vBulletin and Gallery).
GIF support was added back in version 2.0.28 of GD library. To find out what version of GD you have installed, go into your admincp, scroll to the bottom in the left nav, and click 'View php info'. hit find and search for 'gd' (you want the entry that is an entire section on gd, not just a piece of a line of code) or scroll down to the gd section. This will tell you what version of gd you have.
My next task to figure out if it is possible to upgrade ONLY the gd library in php without having to recompile all of php. I would appreciate any guidance on this.
