Yes, it is up to you where to add the link to the gallery as different people will want to add it in different places. If you are unsure of how to add a link I believe there is a post in the hacks forum with more detailed instructions.
As for the error, I don't see how it's printing out the config file like that. Did you make any changes to the files. Also, your $forumpath line should be something more like this:

$forumpath = '/home/mytract/public_html';
