The custom field shouldn't be needed as you can browse all of a users pics with their forum userid#
You should be able to add a link in the postbit and User Profile page templates to link to that users gallery.
Examples;
for postbit templates:

for the user profile page (MEMBERS_INFO template):

and if you want a link to "My Gallery" that will take users to their own pictures (from eg their usercp or the navbar):
