Great thinking! The value of [gallery] could equate to the id of the pic... however it would be best to be able to differ between thumbs and large.

Photopost had a cool hack that I worked on (I sorted out a wysiwyg version) to provide a popup box for a users images. I would love to see something like this made for the vba gallery. It may be a far better solution than the [gallery] tag as all it would really require is a template edit.
