Yes, you are correct. They were 755, the install instructions doesn't say anything about directories under the uploads directory just the uploads directory itself. (probably because on a new install you wouldnt have folders in the uploads directory)

I move the files over from the old server, they must of changed to 755 when i moved them. I just hope all new directories created will be 777 automatically.
